Happy, Happy Mother's Day to all you lovely moms out there! I'm not a mom myself, but I will honor my wonderful mom by taking her out to eat and other pamperings. :D
I got the next FF project on the stand! I kinda wish I had a fancy floor stand that could be adjusted easily to fit all manner of fabric sizes. But alas, I have a simple one, so I must baste extra fabric onto my hardanger to get it to fit on the bars. I am a horrible baster. Probably because I don't pin anything, la la la~ I think it took me about an hour to attach two pieces of fabric, LOL.
I tried gridding this time. I... I hate it. :( I didn't even fully grid the thing and I feel like it's a colossal waste of floss and then the floss grids get in my way while stitching... just... gah! I found myself not even using them for counting purposes. Do any of y'all grid your projects, and if you do, how do you keep from going crazy?
Despite the gridding fail, I'm trying to be very careful with this pattern, keeping track of the time involved, the mistakes in/changes to the pattern, confusing symbols, etc. So far, the work involved is about two hours in half-stitches. I'm going to do most of it in half-stitches at first because 1) they're easier to pick out when mistakes appear and 2) I want to tweak with the blending. Once I get the blending and placement figured out, I'll go back in and fill in the other stitch.
I'm so excited about this, eeeee.

Ohh, I'm excited about this project of yours, lol! Can't wait to see more! As for gridding, I rarely do it, but when I have to, I use one of those vanishing pencils. I like them, but the lines tend to dissappear in like 3 days, so I plan to get myself a water soluble gridding pen for larger projects :)
ReplyDeleteI know, I can't wait to see more too! 8D
DeleteHmm, I considered getting one of the water-soluble pens so I wouldn't feel like a floss-waster, haha. Someday, I'll add to my arsenal! :D
Hello
ReplyDeleteLovely start on your project.
I hate gridding and don't usually do it.
Thank you~ I'm beginning to think I may not be a gridder, either.
DeleteGridding is much easier with a blue fabric pen - the kind which washes out. I tried floss gridding and tore my hair out. Using fabric pen was so easy.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I've only managed to try it once before my kids lost my pen. T_T
Yes, I think I'll have to acquire one on my next trek into the wild world of hobby stores, haha. I have a feeling my kitties will be the ones to lose it, though. :D
DeleteI grid my over one projects, because it's so hard to tear the teeny tiny stitches out. Yes, it's time consuming. Yes, it's tedious. Yes, it's a PITA. But it keeps me on track, so that's good. To me, it's worth it. And I can't figure out what FF stands for, lol. I'm not very good with abbreviations. I like the color you're using, though. It's pretty.
ReplyDeleteThis project is over one but it isn't too confetti; I made sure of that, hah. I think I'll have to go the pen way 'cause I just don't have the patience to baste out the grids.
DeleteFF stands for Final Fantasy. :D. I'm glad the color is pretty; I had a heckuva time picking them out both in the pattern and the store, laaaa~
