Brachydios Mio! Another square for the husband cube! I so very much enjoyed working on this guy. The pattern was great (tooting my own horn there), the colors were great, and he's just all around great. I'm already thinking I want to make a little case for either my DS or games or something, just to have an excuse to stitch him again!

Three down, three to go! I have yet to decide on the next square. I am going to guess either Nargacuga or Zinogre. Or maybe Lagiacrus. Or the pickle. I'll let the giftee decide and absolve myself of difficult things.
Edit: He decided Zinogre! I've tweaked up the image into a chart but I am not happy with the colors (again). We shall go floss diving!

Next up, here is the finished baby blanket for the lady who set up our knitting group at the library! Sorry these colors aren't quite optimal; they were taken under the library florescent lighting and at a rather weird angle. I like the way it was finished up but I do not envy the lady who finished it! All of our squares were different stitch counts and tensions haha. But she did a great job with what she had and the blanket is so soft and snuggly. :) My squares are the top middle white (tiles) and the bottom right yellow (triangles).

Next-next, also for Mr. Husband, I worked on a few more motifs for the speaker cozies... finally! It really seems to fly when I work on the individual little bits before putting them together. Plus it creates a nice sense of accomplishment having little parts done. This particular cozy will be for one of the towers and will be 4x5 motifs. I will need 10 of each color of these little inner parts... and this little inner part is only 1/3 of a full motif... and I will need four 4x5 motifs...... I'll kindly let you do the math as I'd rather not think about how many more I will be making LOL. (They really are enjoyable though; especially the delft blue.)
Whew! Gifts are fun. I have another gift to show but it has yet to reach its giftee so maybe the next GG~
I do have a question for you all before I scurry away. Assuming a miracle happens and you manage to not lose your needle for many projects, what do you do with the needle when it gets tarnished and "squeaks" through fabric? These are just basic non-gold needles. I assume pitching them but it seems a waste? And a bit dangerous to put needles, even blunt tapestries, in the garbage!
Great square! I look forward to seeing the next one
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post. Love all your pieces. The blanket looks great, she did a great job putting all the squares together. Those little crochet motifs are so cute but sounds like you have a lot of them to do, I didn't do the math. I still haven't got a system for getting rid og my used tapestry needles, I don't like putting them in the bin either so I have a small metal tin I keep them in. Hope will figure out some way of disposing of them. Maybe they can be recycled some how?
ReplyDeleteLove your post and your stitching. The baby blanket is adorable.

Hooray for the finish! The blanket looks lovely, but I do feel for the lady who put it all together. I put unusable needles in one of those little containers prescription pills come in and when it's full, snap the lid back on and toss it in the garbage.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on another finish !!:) Love those tiny flower motifs.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why do you want to make the sixth face of the cube because it will be at the bottom and when ever you want to turn upside down, the other faces will turn upside down too. Unless you hang the cube, it is a puzzle for me how you are going to place the sixth bottom face.
I just wrap the needle in thick paper and throw away. Broken crockery is as dangerous as needle, people throw that in garbage as well. And the chemical gases emitted from the garbage are far more dangerous than a needle. Well, I convince myself that way.
Congrats on finishing a little blue guy!
ReplyDeleteA huge well done to the lady who finished up the blanket. She did an amazing job considering a few squares were different tension and sizes. It must have been a serious headache inducing job :)
I bend my needles in two if feasible, as sometime they do snap, wrap them in kitchen roll and dispose of them in my household bin. Might not be the best thing to do but hey ho needs must!
Thanks for taking part in GG this month. Love your latest creature, they look great together. What colour is the next one?
ReplyDeleteThe baby blanket looks good too, that must have been a headache putting it all together, well done to that lady!
I keep all my old needles in a tin for some unknown reason. I suppose film canisters would have been a good way of disposing of them safely but we don't have them any more!
Yay! Congrats on the finish! Those snowflakes are beautiful, great job. I find crochet so intimidating. That blanket is so pretty, but I can't imagine having to put all those different squares together!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful knitted blanket, it looks so snuggly.
ReplyDeleteNice new square for your cube.
These husband squares are coming along great, All are so delightfully different in colours. You made great choices. looking forward to seeing the next square.
ReplyDeleteThat blanket looks really good and you are right, that lady who was sewing or knitting it together was doing a great job. I just throw them into the garbage bin.
I never have tarnished needles. I only throw them away when the eye is broken.
Rosey, great GG post this month, my dear.
ReplyDeleteYou can buy small sharps containers (travel size) at the pharmacy and put them in there. When full, you need to take them to a hospital security office. I suppose you could take your filled tin there too, but I'm not sure about that.
ReplyDeleteCathy, I'm not sure why your comment didn't get emailed to me at all; how bizarre.
DeleteI didn't think of the pharmacy carrying containers but it makes sense! I suppose they don't differentiate between medicine needles and sewing needles? Thanks for the info!
Love the colors of your stitched pieces. Great progress on your other works:)
ReplyDeleteLovely progress I'm excited to see your other 3 :). I keep using them :)
