Well, hiiiidee ho! I do seem to be very bad at blogging lately. I have (somewhat) legitimate excuses this time though.
First, I had to put away FFIII. 1) I was mad at it. I still am, although it's devolved into a "sigh why me" sort of mad. I made another horrible counting mistake that is going to take forever and a day to pick out. It cannot be worked around. 2) People keep doing crazy things like getting married and having babies!! I haven't been lazy, just secretive with projects. :)
I have three projects. One is finished and received, yay! One is about 1/3 complete and desperately needs finished... last month. One is in the process of being cleaned up and charted. Anyway, I know you guys like pictures so please enjoy the few that I took. I tend to totally ignore WIP shots on secrets for some reason! I will try to be better with the next two.
The first project was for a dear friend who just had her first baby! The third project is also for her but it is going to take a million years so I wanted to make something small. I think I got the idea from Etsy because I was going to cheat and buy something. But then I thought, naaaaaaaah, I can make stuff! Next time I think that, someone please boop me with a swimming pool noodle. ;)
The first one is basically for her husband, haha. He's a St. Louis Cardinals (American baseball for you furiners) fan so I wanted to make a little something personal.
Having never done ANYTHING REMOTELY CLOSE to this, those letters on the back. Let me tell you. omygoodnessgracious they were a pain. My first attempt at attaching everything went horribly with puckers everywhere. I pondered what on earth I could do about that. Then after staring forlornly in the meager craft aisle at WalMart, I happened upon hem tape. Ohhh, how the angels sang. I was able to position things and pin them in place. Felt doesn't like to be ironed so I had to flip the onesies inside out so some of the super careful positioning got skewed anyway. But! They were attached in such a way that I could easily sew them on without bunching up the fabric. I'm a little bit proud of how the logo came out; it was fiddly to cut. I am told that her husband laughed hysterically when he saw them so I hope this is a good thing, ahahaha.
Next is hers. I do believe she's been a Muppets fan since the beginning of time so I wanted to do something involving them. Mahna Mahna is my favorite little skit so he gets to make his appearance! I had a lot of fun making these. I was a bit worried about the color choices because, well, it's for a little boy. Pink and orange don't exactly scream boy colors to me but they were the best combination I could come up with that still matched. And the butt wouldn't be complete without "do doo do doo doo". As you can see, I'm reasonably awful at hand sewing. ._. I tried so hard on these and really had to psych myself up to actually put them in the mail because I had doubts as to whether or not they were good enough. Even now, all I see is crooked things and wiggly stitches. I also made a Kermit the Frog felt, but he never got attached to a onesie. I had a limited selection of felt to work with and the colors just weren't right for such an iconic figure. He looks like a Kermit, just wrong colors.
Told ya I didn't have much in the way of pictures. :) I shall leave you with a couple of pictures of food.
This is a pancake...cake! It was made in my rice cooker of all things. It's been floating around facebook for a while now so I had to try it. It worked out pretty well but my rice cooker is a very basic one so it kept shutting off (I assume when it reaches a certain temperature) so it took a while to actually cook. Tasted like a giant pancake. :)
My birthday cake! I luuuurve strawberry shortcakes and this a very, very basic recipe that turns out pretty yummy (and dense... and fattening...).
I hope you survived my rambles and have had infinite more progress than I have. :D
